About Vectorize logo for hats

Hat decoration uses two primary methods: embroidery (for structured caps, snapbacks, beanies) and sublimation or UV printing (for bucket hats, trucker hats, and foam caps). Both methods require a high-quality logo source file — a vector SVG is ideal.

Embroidery on hats: the hat's curved front panel and seam position create technical constraints. Embroidery on a 6-panel cap is typically limited to the front centre panel — standard area is approximately 60mm × 50mm for a chest-left logo or 80mm × 60mm for a full front design. The logo must be simplified enough to stitch cleanly at this small size.

Simplify for small embroidery size: at 60mm width, fine text, thin lines under 1mm, and small details become invisible or stitch as blobs. After vectorizing, open the SVG in Inkscape and remove any design details smaller than 1.5mm at the intended embroidery size. Bold, simplified designs embroider most cleanly.

Print on hats: sublimation printing works only on white polyester caps. UV printing works on most surfaces. For printed hat logos, deliver the SVG at the exact cap print area dimensions at 300 DPI equivalent. Typical front panel print area is 80mm × 60mm for a standard 5-panel cap.

Provide your hat manufacturer or embroidery digitizer with the vectorized SVG along with the desired dimensions and placement position (e.g., front centre, 25mm from the brim).
