Vectorize Logo for Patches
Custom patches — embroidered, woven, or PVC — require a clean vector logo. Vectorize your design to get a print-ready SVG your patch manufacturer can work with directly.
About Vectorize logo for patches
Patches are produced using three main methods: embroidery, weaving, and PVC moulding. Each requires a different level of design detail, but all benefit from a clean vector source file.
Embroidered patches: the most common type. The logo is embroidered onto a woven backing, typically twill or canvas. Standard sizes range from 50mm to 100mm wide. At these sizes, moderate detail is achievable — thin text, inner borders, and multi-colour fills are all possible. The vector file is sent to an embroidery digitizer who converts paths to stitch files.
Woven patches: produced on Jacquard looms. Woven patches support finer detail than embroidery and can reproduce text at very small sizes, but use a limited thread palette. The vector file must define each colour as a distinct filled region with no gradients.
PVC patches: moulded from rubber or PVC. The vector defines the mould shape. PVC patches can reproduce 3D raised areas corresponding to vector fill regions. Complex outlines are possible, but all areas must be solid regions — no gradients, no transparency.
Design file delivery for patches: provide the vector SVG at the exact intended patch size. Include a borderline in the design — the merrowed or laser-cut border at the patch edge. Most manufacturers also accept AI or EPS. Colour each fill using named colours matching Pantone or thread colour references from your manufacturer's catalogue.
