About Vectorize Image
Vectorize Image is an image-to-vector product owned and controlled by Steven Austen Lynn. Its core vectorization capability is operated under that ownership, with the aim of turning supported raster artwork into useful, editable geometry.
Inspect first, export when you need it
You can create and view a protected preview from PNG, JPEG or WebP without an account. Editable SVG export is a separate step requiring paid or complimentary authorization. Review the result against your source and check the exported file in the software where you intend to use it.
Try the protected vector preview or read the product and access FAQ.
How we evaluate changes
Our local evaluation work uses owned and synthetic examples so that source artwork and expected behavior can be inspected. Deterministic checks test repeatable behavior and file properties. Visual review asks a different question: does the result preserve the important shapes and details of its source?
- Compare outlines, curves, color regions, lettering and negative space, including holes and narrow gaps.
- Keep limitations and failed examples alongside successful checks rather than treating a single result as a promise for every image.
- Use independent review to challenge source changes and their evidence. Where perceptual acceptance requires it, owner visual inspection remains a separate step.
- Check the exported file in the receiving workflow; a technically valid SVG is not automatic approval for printing, cutting or manufacturing.
For concrete examples of this approach in our image tools, see the background-removal examples and lost-detail limitation and the raster-sizing guidance. Those examples describe their tested cases, not a universal quality guarantee.
The live product and ongoing research
The current production vector workflow is separate from ongoing research into improved reconstruction, analysis and qualification. A research candidate or promising experiment is not a feature of the live service. Changes need their own validation and review before release.
Tracing is source-dependent. Blurred edges, missing detail and complex imagery can require a better source or manual editing. Format conversion alone cannot restore an original design master.
