PNG-to-SVG conversion replaces pixels with scalable vector shapes that Cricut Design Space can read. Use the converter when the starting asset is a PNG and the goal is a reusable SVG for vinyl, cardstock, iron-on, decals, or similar projects.
Choose a suitable PNG. Clear silhouettes, solid color regions, transparent or simple backgrounds, and strong edge contrast produce more manageable paths. Photographs, soft shadows, textured fills, and tiny lettering can create complex geometry that needs cleanup.
Convert the file. The protected preview is available without an account; editable SVG export requires paid or complimentary access. Keep the original PNG so you can compare the reconstructed shapes with the source.
Check the cut paths. Inspect the SVG at the intended project size for disconnected specks, duplicate contours, narrow gaps, and details that are smaller than the material can hold. Confirm that separate color regions are represented in a way that matches the planned layers.
Use the result in Design Space. Import the SVG, verify its dimensions and layer grouping, select the intended operation, and make a small test cut before committing material. If the preview exposes excess paths, clean the SVG and import it again.
