About Convert AI to SVG

Adobe Illustrator native AI format is a proprietary container format related to PDF. While some SVG exporters handle AI files directly, the most reliable cross-platform method is to render the AI as a high-resolution PNG and then vectorize the result. This approach guarantees that complex Illustrator effects, layer structures, and embedded assets are flattened and handled correctly.

This workflow is useful when sharing vector artwork with collaborators who do not have Illustrator, or when you need SVG for web delivery, Cricut, or laser cutting. SVG is the universal vector format supported by every modern tool.

The resulting SVG can be opened back in Illustrator if needed, or used directly in Figma, web CSS, or cutting machine software.

If your AI file has complex gradients or effects, simplify and flatten all layers before exporting the intermediate PNG. Clean, flat artwork with solid color regions converts to SVG most accurately.

AI is not a direct preview input; export the source to PNG, JPEG, or WebP before upload.
