About Convert JPEG to AI

JPEG is a lossy compressed raster format. Adobe Illustrator's AI format is a resolution-independent vector container. Converting JPEG to AI requires vectorizing the raster image — tracing the pixel data into mathematical path descriptions that Illustrator can natively edit.

Workflow: upload the JPEG to the vectorizer. The tool auto-traces the image into a clean SVG with vector paths and solid color fills. Download the SVG. Open it in Adobe Illustrator — SVG is a native Illustrator format. File > Save As > Adobe Illustrator (.ai) to produce the final AI file.

Quality considerations: JPEG compression introduces artifacts (blocky regions, color banding) that can appear as noise in the vector output. Use the highest quality JPEG available as the source. For logos, a clean PNG without JPEG artifacts will always produce a better vector than a compressed JPEG.

After converting to AI: edit individual paths in Illustrator using the Direct Selection tool, adjust color fills in the Color panel, and use Object > Expand Appearance if needed to fully flatten the vector structure. The AI file is ready for placement in InDesign layouts, submission to print suppliers, or use as the master brand file.
