Vectorize Image for 3D Printing

3D printing flat designs — logos, text, badges, decorative panels — starts with a vector SVG. Vectorize your image, then extrude the SVG into a 3D printable STL in Tinkercad, Fusion 360, or Inkscape. Print with any FDM or resin printer.

About Vectorize image for 3D printing

3D printing a logo or graphic requires converting the 2D image into a 3D solid that can be sliced and printed. The standard workflow is: raster image to SVG vector to (extrude) STL for the slicer.

Step 1 — Vectorize the image: Upload the PNG or JPEG to the vectorizer. Download the SVG. The SVG contains the closed paths that define the shape of the design.

Step 2 — Extrude in Tinkercad (easiest, free): Go to tinkercad.com. Create a new design. Import SVG (Import button, choose your SVG file). Tinkercad automatically extrudes the SVG to a 3D solid. Adjust the height (Z scale) to the desired print thickness — typically 2–5mm for badge-style prints.

Step 3 — Export as STL: In Tinkercad: Export > .STL. Import the STL into your slicer (Bambu Studio, PrusaSlicer, Cura, ChiTuBox for resin).

Alternative: Fusion 360 (advanced): Insert > SVG. The sketch canvas shows the vector paths. Use Extrude tool to pull the shape to the desired depth. Export as STL.

Best results for 3D-printed vectors: designs with clean closed paths and no overlapping shapes. Run Pathfinder > Unite in Illustrator before exporting the SVG if the design has overlapping elements.
