About Embroidery vector preparation

Professional embroidery digitizers use clean vectorized files as the foundation for stitch programming. These examples demonstrate the standard preparation workflow for converting logos and artwork to embroidery-ready SVG before importing to digitizing software.

Simple two-color logo: PNG with two flat color regions vectorized. Each color region becomes a clean closed SVG path. The SVG is imported to Hatch or Wilcom. Fill stitch is assigned to each region, underlay stitching is configured, pull compensation is set for the fabric type, and the file is exported as DST or PES for the embroidery machine.

Wordmark text: PNG wordmark converted to SVG with the high-detail trace setting. The letterforms become individual vector paths. Inside the digitizing software, satin stitch columns are assigned to each letter and pull compensation is optimized for the typeface design.

Multi-color complex logo: PNG with six distinct colors vectorized. SVG Cleanup is applied to reduce anchor point count per path. Each color group is imported as a separate layer and stitched in bottom-to-top sequence.

Key preparation step: after vectorizing, always run SVG Cleanup to minimize anchor points. Excess anchor nodes produce jagged embroidery edges. Aim for the fewest anchors that accurately represent the shape.
