About Cricut SVG from PNG
Cricut machines cut precisely along SVG vector paths. PNG images cannot be cut directly — only printed or used in raster scoring modes. Converting PNG to SVG creates the mathematical path data that Cricut Design Space reads and uses for precision cutting. These real examples show typical conversion quality for common Cricut project types.
Logo decal example: A PNG company logo on a white background is vectorized. The white background path is removed, leaving a clean contour-cut SVG ready for adhesive vinyl. The Cricut machine follows the outermost path and cuts the vinyl shape precisely.
Monogram example: A PNG letter design is traced to SVG, producing smooth letterform paths. Used for heat transfer vinyl iron-on on fabric, or for wood engraving on Cricut Maker.
Illustration example: A flat-color cartoon-style PNG with four distinct colors is vectorized. Each color becomes a separate SVG path group used for multi-color layered vinyl projects in Cricut Design Space.
For best Cricut conversion results: use PNG with transparent background, flat solid colors, and strong contrast between elements. Import the SVG (not PNG) into Cricut Design Space using the Upload SVG option.
