Sticker production requires vector files. Whether printing die-cut stickers at a shop or cutting them yourself on a Cricut or Silhouette, SVG is the standard required format. PNG files define pixels rather than paths, so cutting machines cannot follow them directly for precision cut operations.
Converting PNG to SVG for stickers is a one-step process.
For die-cut stickers: the cut path follows the outer contour of the artwork. The vectorization process produces this contour automatically as the outermost path in the SVG. Load it into your sticker software, add the required bleed margin, and the file is ready to order or cut.
For holographic, kraft paper, clear vinyl, and matte stickers: the same SVG works for all substrates. Vector paths are material-independent — change the material in your order or machine settings, not the SVG file.
For multi-layer stickers: vectorize each color layer separately and align them in your design tool for layered vinyl applications or multi-color print production.
