Use the scan to choose what to inspect
Start with a logo you are authorized to submit. Look for possible small-size readability, crop, dark-background and scaling problems, then verify them in the intended placement. The score does not certify WCAG compliance, measure every color pair or establish that artwork is ready for print.
Model assessment and fallback limits
The normal scan requests a model assessment. Results may vary between requests. If that request fails, the browser uses rules based on dimensions, aspect ratio, file type and filename hints. Those fallback rules do not measure actual glyph readability, pixel contrast or vector path complexity. Results identify model assessments. Metadata-only fallback checks report dimensions and file type without diagnostic scores.
An illustrative false-confidence case
Two square PNGs with the same dimensions can have identical metadata even if one has pale lettering on white and the other has a strong dark silhouette. The fallback therefore reports no visual quality score. Inspect the actual colors and shapes; this is an explanation of the method, not an executed comparison.
Check the real placement
- View the mark at the intended favicon or header size. Check letters, counters and small accents individually.
- Place it on the actual light and dark backgrounds. Review important foreground/background pairs with an appropriate contrast assessment for that context.
- Preview the intended crop and padding. A square canvas does not prove that the visible artwork is centered or safe from a circular crop.
- Compare the source and exported derivative at the required dimensions. A favorable scan does not restore missing raster detail.
Browser-local records and sharing
The scan record is held in memory and browser storage. Reloaded records may use a placeholder instead of the original image. Another browser without the saved record shows an unavailable message. Keep the findings and source reference together in your own review record; the result link does not transfer the scan.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does the score establish?
A model score is an estimate for inspection, not a compliance certificate or measured prediction of production quality. If the request fails or returns incomplete scores, the fallback reports metadata without diagnostic scores.
Will someone else see my scan from its link?
