About Laser cut file from JPG

Preparing a laser cut file from a JPG source follows a reliable three-step workflow: clean the JPG, vectorize to SVG, and configure paths in your laser cutter software.

Example: A user has a JPG company logo they want to engrave and cut out on a 6mm plywood coaster.

Step 1 — Prepare the JPG. The JPG is 800×800px with a white background. Upload it to the Remove Logo Background tool to eliminate the white background. Download the transparent PNG result.

Step 2 — Vectorize to SVG. Upload the transparent PNG to the Logo Vectorizer. The tool traces the logo edges into clean SVG paths. Download the SVG file.

Step 3 — Import into LightBurn. Open LightBurn and import the SVG. Assign the interior design fill as an Engrave layer and the outer shape boundary as a Cut layer. Set the document dimensions to match a 85mm coaster diameter.

Step 4 — Run the job. The laser engraves the inner design detail first at lower power, then follows the cut path at higher power to release the coaster shape from the plywood.

Result: a clean, professional laser-cut coaster from a standard JPG logo file in under 5 minutes of prep time.

This workflow applies to any JPG design destined for laser cutting — plaques, ornaments, custom signage, gift engravings, and packaging inserts. The key is always removing the background before vectorizing to get clean, cut-only paths.
