PNG for xTool Laser
xTool is the fastest-growing desktop laser brand with machines including the D1 Pro, S1, and P2. xTool Creative Space software handles SVG and PNG files differently — SVG paths become assignable vector layers, while PNG imports become raster engrave operations.
About PNG for xTool laser
xTool machines (D1 Pro diode, S1 enclosed diode, P2 CO2, M1 combo) use xTool Creative Space as their native software. Creative Space accepts both SVG and PNG, but treats each file type differently.
xTool Creative Space file handling: - SVG: Creative Space reads SVG paths as vector elements. Each coloured path becomes a separate processing layer assignable to Cut, Score, or Engrave mode. - PNG: imported as a raster image for fill engraving. The software modulates laser power based on greyscale pixel values.
How to prepare PNG for xTool Creative Space: 1. Upload the PNG to the PNG-to-SVG converter above. 2. Download the SVG. 3. Open xTool Creative Space. 4. Import > SVG. Each path colour becomes a separate assignable layer. 5. Assign each layer to the correct mode: Cut, Score, or Engrave. 6. Set material using xTool's Materials Library (wood, acrylic, leather, card stock). 7. Run a framing test before the full engrave or cut.
xTool Creative Space SVG tips: - Convert all text to outlines (paths) before importing — Creative Space does not embed font files. - Avoid overlapping paths in Cut layers. Overlapping cut paths cause double-cutting. - For xTool P2 (CO2) models, higher-DPI SVGs produce sharper detailed engraving. - xTool Creative Space supports multi-layer SVGs. Each fill colour maps to a separate speed and power setting.
xTool D1 Pro recommended wood settings: - Engrave: 70% power, 4000 mm/min - Cut (3mm basswood): 100% power, 300 mm/min, 3 passes
