HEIC (High Efficiency Image Codec) is the compressed photo format used by Apple devices since iOS 11. HEIC is not a direct preview input; export the source to PNG, JPEG, or WebP before upload. Converting HEIC to SVG requires two steps: first convert the HEIC to a raster format (PNG or JPEG), then vectorize that raster image to produce SVG paths.

Detailed photographic scenes will produce complex SVG paths; for those, consider enabling the simplified tracing option to reduce anchor point density.
