Convert TIFF to AI
Convert a TIFF raster image to an editable Adobe Illustrator AI file. The conversion vectorizes the pixel-based TIFF into scalable paths that can be edited and exported in Illustrator.
About Convert TIFF to AI
TIFF images contain fixed-resolution pixel data. Adobe Illustrator's AI format contains resolution-independent vector paths. To convert a TIFF to AI, the raster data must be vectorized — traced into mathematical shape descriptions that Illustrator can read and edit.
Workflow: upload the TIFF to the vectorizer. Download the SVG output. Open the SVG in Illustrator — it imports as native vector content. File > Save As > Adobe Illustrator (.ai) to produce the final AI file.
TIFF source quality matters: for best results, use 300 DPI or higher TIFFs with clear silhouettes, high contrast, and flat solid colors. Scanned logos, pen-and-ink illustrations, and simple graphic artwork are ideal candidates. TIFFs that are scanned documents with text and line art can be vectorized for fully editable text-as-paths output in Illustrator.
After converting to AI: use Illustrator's Live Paint Bucket to fill color regions, the Pen tool to refine paths, and the Pathfinder panel to merge or subtract shapes. The resulting AI file is fully editable and ready for brand identity work, print production, or export to any other format Illustrator supports.
