UV DTF (UV Direct to Film) printing produces pressure-sensitive sticker transfers using UV-curable ink on transparent PET film. Unlike regular DTF, UV DTF transfers adhere to hard surfaces — tumblers, mugs, phone cases, cups — with no heat press required.
About Artwork for UV DTF printing
UV DTF is the fastest-growing print format for hard-surface decorating. Shops apply UV DTF stickers to tumblers, mugs, phone cases, and product packaging by peeling the backing film and pressing the sticker directly onto the surface. No heat press. No special equipment beyond the UV printer.
UV DTF vs regular DTF — key differences: - UV DTF uses UV-curable ink; regular DTF uses water-based textile inks. UV DTF bonds to hard, non-porous surfaces; regular DTF bonds to fabric only. - UV DTF requires no heat press — peel and press application. Regular DTF requires a heat press at 300–320°F. - Both require 300 DPI transparent PNG files.
UV DTF file requirements: - Format: RGB PNG with transparent background at 300 DPI. - No white background: UV DTF printers apply a white ink underbase automatically for the areas with opaque pixels. A white-background PNG causes white ink to cover the entire design area. - Gang sheet layout: UV DTF is printed on film sheets (typically 11 × 17 or 13 × 19 inches). Arrange multiple sticker designs on a transparent canvas with 0.25-inch spacing between designs. - Colour mode: RGB. RIP software (RIPrint, VersaWorks UV) converts to CMYK+White+Varnish layers.
How to prepare artwork for UV DTF printing: 1. Upload the PNG artwork to the vectorizer above. 2. Download the SVG for vector editing at any size. 3. Export from Inkscape as a 300 DPI PNG with transparent background. 4. Arrange designs on the gang sheet canvas at the supplier's specified sheet dimensions. 5. Submit the gang sheet PNG to the UV DTF print supplier.
