About Vectorize logo for mugs

Mugs are printed using several techniques: sublimation (for white coated mugs), UV printing (full colour on any surface), ceramic transfers (traditional glazed ceramic), and laser engraving (for metal travel mugs). Each technique has different file requirements, but all benefit from a vector source file.

Sublimation mug printing: sublimation requires a full-colour raster print file (JPEG or PNG at 300 DPI at print size). However, starting from a vector SVG and rasterizing at the required resolution produces a cleaner, sharper print than scaling up a small raster file. Vectorize the logo, then export from Illustrator or Inkscape at 300 DPI in the correct mug template dimensions.

UV printing on mugs: UV printers print at 1200+ DPI and can reproduce very fine detail. Vector files are ideal — deliver as PDF or SVG with all colours on separate layers. The print operator converts to the required machine format.

Laser engraving on metal mugs: laser engraving removes material to reveal contrast. Only the outline or engraved path matters — gradient fills are irrelevant. Vectorize the logo to get clean path outlines, then convert to a DXF or proprietary format for the laser engraver.

Common mug template sizes: standard 11oz mug wrap area is approximately 210mm × 85mm. Export the vectorized logo as SVG and place it in the mug template from your supplier before sending to print.
