Vector File for Product Labels
Product labels are printed at small sizes where any pixelation or blur in a logo becomes immediately visible. Use vector artwork for all product label work to ensure perfect print quality at any label size.
About Vector file for product labels
Product labels are among the most demanding print applications for logo quality. A round 40mm jar label or a 50×30mm soap band contains the same brand elements as a full-page ad — but at a fraction of the size. Any imperfection in the artwork is magnified at this scale.
Label printers, whether digital (HP Indigo, Xeikon) or flexographic (for long-run production), require vector artwork. Raster logos supplied at insufficient resolution produce fuzzy type and blurry edges.
For digital label printing (typical for small businesses and short runs): supply a PDF exported from vector artwork at 1:1 final size with 3mm bleed. Specify whether the white areas are printed white or transparent.
For flexographic label printing: supply an EPS or AI file with all text converted to outlines. Specify Pantone spot colours where brand consistency is critical — process (CMYK) colour can shift between print runs.
For thermal label printing (barcodes, shipping labels): raster TIF or PNG files work if produced at the exact print resolution of the thermal printer. For labels containing logos, a vector PDF converted to the printer's native format produces cleaner results.
Start label design with the Logo Vectorizer to produce a clean SVG from any PNG or JPG logo, then compose the label layout in a design application before exporting for print.
