About How to vectorize a logo for vinyl cutting

Vectorizing a logo for vinyl cutting converts the raster PNG or JPG to clean SVG paths that vinyl cutting software can read and cut. The following step-by-step guide covers the full workflow from logo upload to vinyl-ready cut file.

Step 1: Upload the raster logo Use the vectorizer above — drag and drop a PNG, JPG, or BMP logo image. Select 2–4 trace colours; more colours add more path layers.

Step 2: Download the SVG After the trace completes, download the SVG file. This is the base vector file for vinyl cutting.

Step 3: Clean the SVG in Inkscape (recommended) — Run Path > Simplify to reduce anchor density and smooth cut paths. — Use Object > Object to Path to convert any geometric shapes or text to path data. — Check the Node Editor for open path endpoints — close any gaps.

Step 4: Load into vinyl cutting software — Cricut Design Space: Upload > upload file > select SVG format. — Silhouette Studio: File > Import > browse to the SVG file. — Roland CutStudio: File > Insert Image > select the SVG. — FLEXI / SignCut Pro: File > Import > SVG.

Step 5: Colour separation for multi-colour vinyl Each vinyl colour cuts from a separate material sheet. In the cutter software, separate fill colours into individual mats or cut passes.

Step 6: Set cutting parameters and test cut — Cricut: select material type from the Materials panel. — Silhouette: set blade depth under Blade & Cut Settings. — Roland/Pro cutters: set blade force, speed, and offset. Always test cut first on a small section before running the full logo.
