PNG-to-SVG conversion produces dramatically different results depending on the source material. Understanding what the output looks like helps you set expectations and choose the right settings for your project.
Flat logos with solid colors produce the cleanest SVG output. The tracer identifies each color region as a distinct path, resulting in an SVG with a small number of precise, smooth shapes. These files are typically well under 50KB and render identically to the source at any resolution.
Logos with gradients or shading convert well on Balanced or High Detail mode. The vectorizer creates additional paths to represent the tonal variation. The result is more complex but still fully scalable and editable.
Icons and simple illustrations convert with excellent accuracy on Fast mode. Symbol-style icons — checkmarks, arrows, social media glyphs — convert into clean single-path SVGs that are ideal for web use.
The most important factors for good output: source resolution (higher is better), background cleanliness (white or transparent), and color contrast (higher contrast edges produce cleaner path boundaries). If your first attempt isn't perfect, try a higher-quality source file or switch to High Detail mode.
