Convert Image to Glowforge File
Convert any PNG, JPG, or logo image to a Glowforge-ready SVG file. The vectorizer traces your image into clean paths that the Glowforge dashboard reads for cutting and engraving operations.
About Convert image to Glowforge file
Glowforge accepts SVG for cutting and engraving, and PNG/JPG for raster engraving. The most flexible option is converting your image to SVG so you can assign cut, score, or engrave operations to individual layers in the Glowforge dashboard.
Converting PNG or JPG for Glowforge: upload the image to the vectorizer to produce an SVG with clean closed paths. The vectorized SVG can then be imported directly into the Glowforge dashboard. Each colour in the SVG becomes a separate operation layer in Glowforge.
For logos and simple artwork: vectorization produces an SVG that Glowforge reads as a cut or engrave file. Assign the operation (cut, score, or engrave) to each colour layer in the Glowforge dashboard.
For photographs: use Glowforge's built-in raster engraving — upload the original PNG directly. Glowforge converts the photo to a halftone-style engrave pattern automatically. No vectorization is needed for photo engrave jobs.
Converting for Glowforge settings: after importing SVG to the Glowforge dashboard, set material settings (proofgrade material or manual settings for speed, power, and LPI). Glowforge proofgrade settings handle focus and power automatically when using Glowforge materials.
File size note: Glowforge processes SVG in the browser-based dashboard. Large SVG files with high node density can slow dashboard loading and preview rendering. Simplify paths before uploading for best performance — target under 10,000 total nodes for complex designs.
