About Convert HEIC to AI

Adobe Illustrator's native AI format is a vector container based on PDF and PostScript. To convert a HEIC photo to AI, the image must first be vectorized — its pixel content traced into mathematical paths — and then those paths exported in Illustrator's format.

Workflow: upload the HEIC file to the vectorizer. The tool decodes the HEIC, traces the image into a clean SVG with vector paths and solid color fills, and provides an SVG download. Open the SVG in Illustrator — it imports natively. Save As > Adobe Illustrator (.ai) to get the final AI file. The AI file can then be sent to print suppliers, used in Illustrator templates, or placed in InDesign layouts.

For logos photographed on iPhone: use good lighting, photograph straight-on against a white or contrasting background, and clean up the image before capturing for the best vector output. The iOS Notes app has a built-in document scanner that produces cleaner images for vectorization than a standard iPhone camera photo.

AI files produced via this workflow are fully editable in Illustrator: paths can be adjusted, colors changed, and objects regrouped for use in brand identity work.
