About How to create favicon from logo

A favicon represents your brand at the smallest scale — typically 16×16 or 32×32 pixels. Every website needs one. Without it, browsers show a generic grey icon in the tab, which looks unprofessional and reduces brand recognition.

The standard favicon workflow starts with your logo file. PNG logos with transparent backgrounds work best because they scale cleanly to small sizes without white boxes appearing around the icon. SVG logos also produce excellent results since they are resolution-independent by definition.

Steps to create a favicon from a logo: 1. Upload your PNG or SVG logo to the Favicon Generator. 2. The tool generates all required sizes: 16×16, 32×32, 48×48, 96×96, and 180×180 for Apple Touch Icon. 3. Download the favicon package — includes .ico, .png, and apple-touch-icon.png. 4. Place the files in your website root directory. 5. Add the appropriate link tags to your HTML head section.

Favicon file naming conventions: — favicon.ico — used by legacy browsers and Windows taskbar pinning — favicon-32x32.png — used by modern Chrome and Firefox — apple-touch-icon.png — used when iOS users add your site to their home screen — favicon.svg — used by Safari 14+ and modern Chromium-based browsers

If your logo has fine detail or thin text, simplify it before generating — favicons at 16×16 will not render small typography legibly. A monogram, icon mark, or simplified version of your logo works better at very small sizes than the full horizontal lockup.
