About Convert JPG to PNG
JPG uses lossy compression, meaning every save degrades the image slightly. Converting JPG to PNG produces a lossless copy of the current image state — future edits or re-saves will not cause further quality loss.
The conversion is simple: open the JPG in any image editor or browser-based converter and save or export as PNG. PNG preserves all visible colors exactly, though it cannot recover the detail already lost during prior JPG compression.
For logos, JPG is a poor working format because lossy compression creates artifacts around sharp edges and text. Converting to PNG improves the working copy slightly, but the underlying artifacts remain. For clean logos, the best solution is to vectorize from the JPG source and produce a clean SVG.
Converting a JPG to PNG does not add a transparent background — transparency must be added separately. Use the Transparent PNG Maker or the Remove Logo Background tool to remove the white or solid-color background after converting from JPG.
For photos, converting JPG to PNG increases file size significantly (PNG is uncompressed) with no visible improvement. Only convert photos to PNG when a lossless source file is specifically required for a workflow, such as prior to vectorizing or extensive editing.
